Message from the President

As we approach this holiday season, I write to thank each and every one of you for your support of the American Association for the History of Nursing. Simply by joining the association you have demonstrated your commitment to its goals; by participating in the conferences, and working on committees (to read abstracts, choose award and grant recipients, work on the strategic plan, and a host of other activities), you have further demonstrated your interest in its success.  For that, I, the Board members, and the staff of Riggs Enterprise extend our heartfelt appreciation.

As you are aware, this past year we initiated a capital campaign to increase our funds and promote the sustainability of this organization. That campaign was successful in meeting more than half of our initial $20K goal: over the course of the year, members donated a total of $11,635.00.   Combining those funds with the amount raised at the conference in Dallas (including the silent auction proceeds and donations to AAHN through our “Buy a share in AAHN” initiative (total = $3784.09), we have raised a total of $15,419.09! Thank you!!

Now, in that same spirit of giving, I am asking members to continue to support the organization: by recruiting new members; by promoting attendance at the conference in Chester, UK, next September; by continuing to volunteer for board positions and committee assignments; and by donating once again to our ongoing capital campaign.  Let’s try again for $20,000 for 2020!  It certainly has a nice ring to it!
