President's Message December 2024

Dear AAHN members, colleagues, and friends,

As the seasons turn from fall to winter and the academic term begins to wrap up, I wish you all a peaceful and restful holiday season. This time of year is busy, filled with travelling, marking, get-togethers, short days, and long nights. Especially during the grind of this time, I am incredibly grateful for your continued support of the AAHN.

Sometimes, during the hustle and bustle, endless deadlines, long hours of work, and preparation for the festive season, it is hard to take a step back and pause to reflect. I encourage you all to take a moment to pause and consider one thing that brings you joy. Take a break, have a nap, recharge your batteries, and socialise with family and friends. Your energies will be needed in 2025.

I want to take this moment to prompt you all to renew your membership.  Your membership, in addition to sending you a paper copy of Nursing History Review, enables you to apply for research grants (due May 1), research awards (due June 15), and present at our annual conference.  I would also like to encourage you to spread the word about our organization. If we all could bring another member, be it a student, a colleague, or a friend, to join AAHN, the impact on the organisation would be immense!

There have been some exciting developments and new initiatives planned for the next year at AAHN:

Together, we can continue to help AAHN thrive.

With hearty best wishes,

Erin
