Nella Larsen Imes

According to biographer George Hutchinson, Nella Larsen Imes gravesite is at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY - section 15, block 4, lot 99D, grave 3. Her gravesite was unmarked in 2006, although I understand a modest stone has been placed by a compassionate novelist colleague since to recognize her legacy.
Larsen served as public health nurse in New York City during the devastating 1918 influenza pandemic. Her career stages as librarian and  novelist earned her recognition as a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance. Her work grapples with racial identity and belonging for biracial women. Larsen worked as a night shift supervisor in NYC hospitals at the end of her career.
