St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Bloomington, IL, was founded in 1921, and closed in 1962. Graduates have maintained an active Alumnae Association to the current day.
Our oldest living graduate, LaVerne Leary Evans, who lives in Bloomington, celebrated her 103rd birthday on January 25, 2020. LaVerne graduated from St. Joseph’s in 1938. For much of her career, she was an office nurse working in the offices of at least two physicians who practiced in Bloomington. Until a couple of years ago, she attended alumnae meetings. She now resides in a nursing home in Bloomington.
