Description: The purpose of this webinar will be to provide an overview of AAHN’s history framework for meaningful integration of nursing history into curricula. Examples of how to engage students with history content using a variety of primary sources will be explored. How to locate primary sources and how to augment teaching with quality secondary sources will be shared. [Same information presented at the 2023 AAHN Pre-Conference Session]

  2. List a variety of primary sources that can actively engage students.

Webinar | Threading History into Existing Courses using the AAHN History Framework

Description: The purpose of this webinar will be to utilize the AAHN history framework for meaningful integration of nursing history into curricula to identify relevant history content for existing courses. A 5-step approach for educators to incorporate history content into existing courses will be shared. A list of history topics for the participants’ individual courses will be discussed. Assistance with writing SMART module/unit learning objectives and selecting assessments that align with the history framework and relevant history content will be provided.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the power of nursing history to enhance the educational experience of nursing students.
  2. Summarize a 5-step approach to thread history content into existing courses.
  3. Apply the AAHN history framework to select relevant history content to incorporate into existing courses.
  4. Construct SMART module/unit learning objectives aligned with the AAHN history framework and related to relevant history content.
  5. Explore assessments of learning aligned with the learning objectives and related to relevant history content.
